
I had leadership responsibility at BBC NOW for a staff team of 110 and a departmental turnover of £7m. I designed and successfully delivered an organisational change management programme, rewriting the department's strategic plan and staffing structure.

As Music Producer I chose the music played across all parts of Classic FM's schedule. I oversaw the weekly audience research that the station undertook. I managed a number of the station's brand extensions including CD productions; magazine publishing and launched Classic FM's dating service !

As interim Chief Executive, I led English Touring Opera for a 9-month transitional period, between two General Directors and two Board Chairs. I stabilised the organisation following a period of significant turbulence introducing a range of policies and procedures, establishing a new culture and helping the business recover and return to more normal live performance work following the pandemic. During my tenure I designed and wrote ETO's application for continued ACE portfolio funding - an application which was awarded and which included a 20% increase in revenue funding within a context of most other opera companies receiving a significant cut in their funding.

As Chief Executive for the Academy of Ancient Music, I Increased the organisation's turnover by 68% and the balance sheet by over 200% during my time as Chief Executive. I secured Arts Council England national portfolio status for the first time in the AAM's history, a grant of more than £500,000 over 3 years. I led the AAM's artistic programming and managed its Music Director and a range of other musical influencers to maintain the Orchestra's international pre-eminent artistic position

I am leading the project to move 50% of Radio 3's activity out of London, to Salford. Drawing on my people and project management skills, this long-term activity includes redesigning Radio 3's processes and procedures to enable excellent decision making and communications across two sites at different ends of the country.

I managed a portfolio of funded organisations, overseeing the investment that ACE made to these companies. I assessed and advised on grant applications to ACE for national lottery money.

I coach the Sage Gateshead's senior management team as well as being the organisation's 'in house' coach, supporting a wide range of staff members.

I teach the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama's Arts Management MA Orchestral programme, designing the course and assessing the students.

As an executive team member of BBC Wales I had co-responsibility for the BBC Wales overall business and operational plan. I led BBC Wales' portfolio of arts and culture activities and commissions and played an active role in setting the division's people and diversity plans as well as being a senior leader example to the c.1000 staff across BBC Wales.

Over a period of 18 months I established the Bath Festival Orchestra. I put in place operational, artistic and financial plans. I recruited and managed team of freelance staff to deliver the orchestra's first season of concerts in London. I supported the Chair to recruit new trustees and worked with the Artistic Director to deliver a vibrant and individual artistic strategy for the orchestra's start-up years.
